I
love you more
than
a fat kid loves cake.
I
like you more
than
Jim likes Pam.
I
think you’re prettier
than
the most perfect sunset.
I
find you more fascinating
than
the distant constellations.
To
my eyes you are brighter
than
a light in the darkness.
You
know me better
than
Leslie Knope knows Ron.
To
my skin you are warmer
than
sheep bucky J
Your
kiss is like diving head first
into
a pool on a summer day.
Your
laugh is
a
momentary vacation for my heart.
Your
love and encouragement go together
like
root beer and vanilla ice cream.
Your
birthday is a reminder to me
of
God’s good gifts.
I
celebrate this day by thanking Him
for
you.

And Then She Grew
Whitney
NaShea
used
to run and play
in
the city of Mayfield
in
the county of Graves
She
was so smart
and had a big heart
no doubt she was gifted
for God set her apart
And
then she grew
a godly woman, it’s true
and an excellent wife
an awesome mother, too…
…Sweet
Ella Ray
who loves to run and play
in the city of J-Town
on Conti Lane
She
is so smart
and has a big heart
no doubt she is gifted
for God set her apart
And
now she’ll grow
a godly woman, it’s true
and an excellent wife
like her mother, too.

Our Life Together
Our life together is God’s
creation
Our love is vaster than a
far constellation
All we’ve been able to do
and see
Holding your hand by the
Aruban sea
Georgetown and Southern for
each graduation
Three apartments and Conti
our family station
We used to be two, now we’re
blessed to be three
Our life together.
Our son we’ll bring home
with no hesitation
An adoption reflecting the
Lord’s salvation
He’s molding us into what He
wants us to be
The most epic of journeys
with you beside me
The thought alone brings
ecstatic elation
Our life together.

You
are beautiful, my love. Truly delightful.
Your
eyes are doves.
You
are a lily among brambles,
An
apple tree among the trees of the forest.
Your
cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with strings of jewels.
Your
love is better than wine.

Reverie
(part three)
…I remember the scariest and greatest and biggest and
most joyous two days of my life. July 26, 2008 and October 28, 2014. Those were the days the Lord blessed me to be a husband and a father. The days he blessed me with a wife and a baby-mama. my
mind cannot comprehend and my heart cannot imagine how much love you must have
for me. you always love and serve and give sacrificially. you put me above
yourself. you set aside your own wants for mine. you are patient and kind. you forgive.
you always have the strength to move forward. to see the light at the end of
the long, dark tunnel. you know the worst about me and the best and yet you
remain by my side. you are there at night and you are there in the morning,
ready to give me, each and every day, that radiant smile...

Reverie
(part two)
…I remember enjoying every
second with you and knowing from the
very beginning that you were the one. I remember the Indiana game when we met
my parents at deSha’s afterwards.
The same deSha’s that almost ended our relationship the night of the
Nutcracker! I remember stepping foot into our Georgetown apartment and thinking “there’s no way we’re going to
live here.” I remember stepping foot into our Springdale apartment and you saying “there’s no way we’re going to
live here.” I remember stepping foot into our Rolling Hills apartment and both
of us thinking “we’re going to love living here.” And we cried after leaving each of them. And we cried when we bought Conti. And we cried when it kept flooding. And flooding. And cracking.
And busting…

Reverie (part one)
...the first thing I noticed was your radiant smile and how it lit up the room. you had an aura of joy and happiness about you that I had never seen before. it struck me. somewhere in my soul, in that moment, I knew you were the one for me. I just knew it. you were magnetic. your brightness was contagious. I remember talking on AIM. I remember our first Kentucky basketball game. I remember being so proud to show you off in front of my friends. I remember the Matt Wertz concert (with Jars of Clay and how strange they were). I remember only liking Matt Wertz at first because his songs seemed to put into words what my heart was feeling about you. I remember being terrified to visit Mayfield for the first time. I remember eating at Nick’s sports grill and getting sick the next day. I remember eating at Patti’s for the first time and getting pork juice all over me (you should’ve known then that my clothes were always going to have food stains on them)...

Where would I be without you?
How could I make it through the fiery fray?
I'd be lost and lonely and blue.
Thanks to you I've grown in every way,
Not to mention your love I've seen displayed.
Every day with you is a beautiful day.
You're the one for me - it's true.
How could I make it through the fiery fray?
I'd be lost and lonely and blue.
Thanks to you I've grown in every way,
Not to mention your love I've seen displayed.

You're the one for me - it's true.

IMPORTANT
QUESTIONS
1.
Would
Patrick Patterson
ever
believe
that
his play that one night
would
spark a conversation
between
two kids on a date
that
would lead to them
falling
in love
and
getting married?
2.
Will
Matt Wertz ever hear
about
how his music was
our
relationship’s soundtrack
for
years and years?
3.
What
would Vinny and Charlotte
say
if they knew
that
they were given
fake
names
and
an entire back story
by
two lovebirds
at
the table next to them?

Dark Night in Springdale
falling
snow
sheets
of ice
empty
rooms dark and cold
creaking
floors
boxes
to be emptied
work
to be done
so
much work to be done
no
friends
barely
an acquaintance
so
far from what we knew
sitting
and crying on the old carpet
a
dark night in Springdale
nowhere
to run
but
to each other
nowhere
to hide
but
in prayer
we
held each other more closely
we
cared for each other more deeply
we
did not quit
we
did not retreat
we
did not give up
The
Lord had a plan
a
work He was beginning
which
would end in happy tears
“Great
is Thy Faithfulness”
I
thank God for
that
dark night in Springdale

Simple Things
Amos
Lee
when
I am returning
another
day on the job
It’s
like a revelation coming home
seeing
you sleeping with the light on
It’s
just these simple things
that keep
me holding on
It’s
just these simple things
that keep
me holding on
well
I know it gets hard, baby
things
get crooked and crossed
sometimes
I just get so lonely baby
I
start feeling lost
But
oh these simple things
keep
me holding on
It’s
just these simple things
that keep me holding on

If I Ever Wrote a Poem
if
I ever wrote a poem
or
a few creative lines
it’d
be simple and clever
with
a few matching rhymes
if
I ever wrote a poem
I
could write about much
I
could write about nature
or
my feelings, such and such
if
I ever wrote a poem
I
would give it my best
It
would be to one person
ignoring
the rest
if
I ever wrote a poem
from
my heart and true
It’d
be filled with my love
and written solely for you

“Precious Angel”
Bob
Dylan
precious
angel
under
the sun
how
was I to know
you’d
be the one?
to
show me I was blinded
to
show me I was gone
how
weak was the foundation
I’d
been standing upon
shine
your light
shine
your light on me
you
know I just couldn’t make it by myself
I’m
a little too blind to see

Cinderella
I
remember, I fondly remember,
As
I certainly should,
The
“White Jesus” and your smile in the hall of Crestwood;
I
remember, I shamefully remember,
Oh
why did I choose,
To
meet you at church wearing blazing white shoes?
I
remember, I proudly remember,
No
car was tougher,
Than
the Cougar that swooped you with a loud broken muffler.
I
remember, I vividly remember,
Holding
your hand,
And
praying you’d see me as your “Cinderella Man.”
I
remember, I truly remember,
And
still feel it, I do,
That
I strive every day to be that man for you.

You are the One for Me
you
are the one for me
in God’s great plan my bride to be
our winding roads would eventually
meet
like a winter fire brings refreshing
heat
you
are the one for me
you
are the one for me
for God’s glory this life we share
wherever I go I want you there
without your love I’d be a forest bare
you are the one for me
you
are the one for me
by God’s design my eyes long to see
the inside and outside of your beauty
so much to enjoy I can’t believe
you
are the one for me
you
are the one for me
until God calls us to our Home
this race we run but never alone
building our house on the eternal
Stone
you are the one for me

Sonnet 116
by William
Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved

That’s you.

That’s you.
Titus

That’s you.

That’s you.
Titus

That’s you.

That’s me.

Big Day
Your
birthday is too big for cake,
too big for toys that quickly break.
Your
birthday is too big for hats,
too big for pinatas and plastic bats.
Your
birthday is too big for balloons,
too big to dance like a buncha
baffoons.
Your
birthday is big in the biggest way
so we’ll celebrate for 30 days!
